17 Acre Farm in Desoto –
On our 17 acres, we are growing various vegetables and crops to fortify the local food shed. The farm in desoto is central to our program. Veterans will live and work on this farm as they go through our program, cultivating the land, tending to the pigs, chickens, goats, and fish, and improving infrastructure and functionality of the farm. However, there is a lot of work to do before the farm can be as efficient and productive as possible. The Desoto farm requires fundraising for objectives such as: chicken caravans, new water well, tractor, veterans living expenses, animal feed, equipment upgrades for aquaponic and hydroponic systems, rainwater tank, and more.
Future Downtown Dallas Sustainable Farm Park –
F.A.R.M. is developing a downtown educational Urban Farm Park, which will be working closely with, and located adjacent to, the newly revamped Dallas Farmers Market. This park will not only educate the local populous about sustainable food systems, but will also be a conduit in which to filter our Veterans. This endeavor would offer veterans a new sense of place in the community and they would be tasked with managing the urban farm park and leading classes there.
